The newly created Virtue species are not mindless automatons in Everblight’s service. Each shares a sliver of the dragon’s alien intellect and is capable of independent thought and action. This mental freedom means that among the Virtues, there are those that rise above the ranks of their kin. Virtue Champions have mastered the blight within their blood and can secrete toxic clouds of Everblight’s blessing from their pores. Their control of the dragon’s blight is so great that the caustic blessing of their master persists in their presence, no matter what efforts their foes take to be cleansed. As a symbol of their elevated status, many Virtue Champions master difficult weapons or fighting styles to display their prowess in combat, such as dual-wielding claymores.

The dragon Everblight has unleashed a new species upon the endless battlefields of western Immoren, a species engineered to combat the threat of the infernals. Elegant and horrifying, the Virtues are Everblight’s elite vanguard, his perfect warriors. Every Virtue is born with the caustic blight of the dragon woven into their blood. These lightning-fast combatants can secrete clouds of toxicity from their pores, spit acid at their foes, and peel their dissolving forms apart with ease. The purity of their blight is so flawless that their mere presence masks the souls of the Legion’s faithful.

The Legion of Everblight has evolved in response to the infernal invasion and the Archons sent to defend humanity. The draconic master of the Nyss has been experimenting with the limits of their minds, bodies, and souls—Everblight has achieved what he considers to be the perfect evolution of the Nyss form, and it all began with the warlock Bethayne.

Bethayne’s flesh was the clay of Everblight’s great work. She has been pulled apart and reconstructed more times than she can recall. Her suffering gave way to the creation of a new race born utterly subjugated to the will of the dragon as well as the creation of Archons of his own design.

When the infernals invaded Caen, and the gods of man and wild sent their Archons to defend their mortal worshippers, Everblight watched with anger and disgust. He raged at the audacity of the gods to think they could create divine creatures with a skill greater than his own. He retched at the crude flesh work of the Infernals Masters and felt embarrassed for them in their pitiful goal of mere soul collection.

With righteous anger, Everblight set about creating a new race to lead his Legion into battle against the imposters and his own Archons to stand defiant against the machinations of ancient cosmic powers. In this endeavor, Everblight succeeded.

As the infernals came for human souls, refugees fled to all corners of Caen (and beyond) to escape. Many of these refugees found themselves in troll lands. There, some were welcomed allies while others were not. No matter their allegiance to the trollkin, many of these survivors brought with them their stores of supplies, including weapons and ammo, which Brigadier General Gunnbjorn happily accepted in return for sanctuary among the trollkin.

It was not long before the brigadier general organized the first units of barrage teams, trollkin trained to use cutting-edge rocket launchers acquired from the human kingdoms. With plenty of ammunition available, the barrage teams are allowed to fire into enemy lines repeatedly, scorching the battlefield with their devastating blasts.
